“There was a counsellor on set at all times when we were filming the scenes.'

Kym said the support at home from her children, David, 22, Emilie, 18, and Polly, five, has helped her through having to re-live the difficulty of losing her son Archie eight years ago.

Kym and her former partner Jamie had announced in 2009 that they were expecting a baby.

Their son, Archie Jay Lomas, was tragically born 18 weeks early and died shortly after birth. In a statement at the time Kym said: “Archie is our beautiful angel and we will miss him so much. Thank you all for your support.”

She told OK! Magazine: “The best tonic was to go home and see David, Emilie and Polly, which reminded me how lucky I am to have my children.’

The actress took to Twitter shortly after the tragic storyline was revealed, and thanked Coronation Street fans for their support and praise.

“I am eternally grateful to all of those who have supported me personally through this and I hope I have done my angel proud.”
