Many people have been affected by George Michael's death.

Mariah Carey simply proved that point by penning a heartfelt blogpost about the Wham! singer's tragic passing. So heartbreaking.

The famed diva, who famously "doesn't know" many other celebrities *cough* Jennifer Lopez *cough*, took to her website on Monday afternoon to pay tribute to the Faith artist. Miz Carey wrote:

"This Christmas, we received the devastating news that beloved singer, songwriter, and music producer George Michael passed away peacefully in his Oxfordshire home. George was only 53 at the time of his passing. He left us way too soon."

Preach, girl, preach. She continued:

"He was a genius that gave us classics like Faith as well as boundary pushing singles I Want Your Sex and Father Figure.
He also gave us the FIRST modern Christmas classic with Last Christmas. George was not only a great musician, he was an active ambassador in the LBGTQ community, pushing for greater understanding, acceptance, and love for all people. He touched so many lives and inspired us all."

So true. Many people might not have realized that Mimi covered one of George's hits — One More Try. The twosome even had quite the gush-worthy Twitter exchanged about the cover (below).

We can't even begin to imagine how devastated the mother-of-two is now that her close friend has passed away. As you surely know, Michael died due to heart failure on Christmas day and was discovered by his partner Fadi Fawaz.

Obviously, George will be severely missed. In fact, Mariah put it perfectly as she concluded in her note:

"George Michael was an original. He changed music and his music changed lives. We'll continue to mourn the loss of an incredible artist and friend but his music will keep us smiling and dancing, forever. Rest in Peace, George."

Hear! Hear!
