After seemingly working through a crisis (Roxy initially refused to be a part of Ronnie and Jack's wedding, but they managed to sort through it) the sister decide to celebrate by heading to the hotel pool after the ceremony.
After she jumped in, Ronnie turned around to see Roxy lying at the bottom of the pool. Diving in the try and save her, her wedding gown weighed her down and both sisters tragically died.
Danielle dies as Ronnie finds out she’s her daughter

So when illness got the better of Hayley Cropper (Julie Hesmondhalgh) in 2014, Corrie fans couldn’t quite cope with the idea of her husband Roy (David Neilson) being left alone on the cobbles.
She decided to take her own life instead on continuing her battle with cancer, surrounding Hayley in even more controversy after she became the first transgender character in soap history in 1998.
Jack joins wife Vera in peaceful death
The long-standing character was definitely a part of the Corrie furniture. So when Jack Duckworth (Bill Tarmey) died in 2010, Britain was grieved to say goodbye to the character who had filled their screens for the past 31 years.
He died in his armchair after attending a birthday party, and the vision of his wife Vera (Elizabeth Dawn), who passed 2 years previously, came to greet her husband in his passing.
Max dies on his wedding day
When fan-favourite Max Cunningham (Matt Littler) died, viewers were heartbroken, and it was definitely one of the most shocking Hollyoaks deaths ever.
After years of hardship, he finally found love, only to be hit by a car on his wedding day in a bid to save brother Tom’s (Ellis Hollins) life.

Tony Hutchinson (Nick Pickard), who is the only character to still be in the soap since it's onset in 1995, hadn't had an easy run over the years.
It was already hard enough to watch when wife Mandy Richardson (Sarah Jayne Dunn) broke up with Tony in 2006 after the death of their baby girl Grace, leaving him doubly heartbroken.
But in 2013 he was diagnosed with testicular cancer, and the very real moment friend Ste shaved his head hit home with many viewers.
