After being diagnosed as clinically obese in 2016, Scarlett Moffatt lost a massive three stone – the star owes it to high-intensity interval training [Instagram]
It's that time of year again when we're all determined to kick start our healthy eating regime and start heading to the gym. From Scarlett Moffatt to Perrie Edwards, we reveal celebrities' best diet and fitness tips to get in shape for 2017
PT: Improving particular body parts requires some smart planning and consistent execution. We will aim to train these body parts multiple times per week (up to three) to really see good progress.
Cath has done the hard work over the last 12 months and has changed her physique beyond recognition. All that is required moving forward is to continue the consistent hard work, along with making small changes to her training regime and nutrition going into 2017 to get the desired outcome.
My main struggle has been a lack of sleep. Sleep is crucial during a body transformation, but when you have a baby it's easier said than done!
PT: Sleep issues are extremely common and at least one or more will plague all of us during our lives.
However, there are many solutions to improving sleep quality. Try implementing elements such as complete darkness to improve sleep and better health.
Also, turn off all electronics at least 30 minutes before bed. Try reading to relax the mind and take the focus off the stresses of the day.
A good quality magnesium supplement can also make a difference and will calm both the nervous system and muscles to allow for a good night's sleep.
UP has given me tools for life. It's not a quick fix fad. There are lots of celebrity bloggers/DVDs out there who haven't got any qualifications whatsoever. UP trainers are the most qualified, advanced trainers available. No fads, just knowledge.
In a world saturated with personal trainers you need to be very careful about who you trust. These guys never stop learning - thus, nor do I.
For me, breakfast is usually salmon, scrambled eggs and spinach. For lunch I'll have a tuna salad and avocado and for dinner a homemade chilli with sweet potato wedges.
I'll often snack on almonds and carrot sticks and hummus.
Like any working mum, my schedule is sometimes manic. Sometimes it is difficult to get to the gym, but I don't see this as an excuse. Exercise is part of my lifestyle now, so when I can't get to the gym there's a variety of alternatives for me.
I perform bodyweight exercises at home followed by a nice long walk with Alfie. I've even been known to use the endless staircases at ITV to provide me with a HIIT (High-Intensity Interval Training) session, simply running up and down them during one of my breaks.
The key here is staying active. Anything that aids your strength or gets your heart rate up is going to be beneficial. I've also found UP's online training a godsend! When I'm too busy to physically get to the gym, I simply click online and it provides me with access to my UP programme.
If you’re inspired by Cath’s transformation and want to take your training, nutrition and physique to the next level, speak to Ultimate Performance about Online Personal Training plans.
