Sen. Ted Cruz isn’t being heavy-handed with the staffer who “liked” a pornographic tweet with his Twitter account.
The Texas Republican told CNN that he has spoken with the staffer whose pleasure with a two-minute X-rated clip from @SexualPosts was available for the world to see Monday night.
“It's generated a lot of amusement, has prompted a lot of jokes. I understand that. I saw one person joking online that if only this had happened during the presidential, Cruz might be in the White House right now,” he said.
The senator refused to identify the staffer or say if there had been any punishment other than a stern talking to about what he characterized as “an honest mistake.”

Cruz, who originally dodged questions about who liked the tweet, said that he was not the one who made the "screw-up."
His Twitter highlighting a nude romp exposed him to criticism over his conservative policies, including by one of the adult film’s stars.
“With his stance against the porn industry and adult entertainment, I'm not a fan of Ted Cruz,” porn star Cory Chase told the Daily News Tuesday.

“But I'm happy to see that he could be a fan of mine though."
The senator told CNN that he blamed the media for flogging him over his previous support of a Texas law restricting sex toy sales, saying he now realizes the measure was “stupid.”
“Consenting adults should be able to do whatever they want in their bedrooms,” he said.
