A Kentucky man who posted an apology on Facebook before the mother of his infant daughter was fatally shot last fall pleaded guilty to murdering her Tuesday.

He’s now raising little Evie Blu, the couple’s daughter who was 7 months old when the incident happened. The father said he regularly shows his granddaughter photos of her mother.

“She’s always going to know who her mom is,” Hodges’ dad said. “I’m going to try to raise her as her grandfather. I want her to know I’m her grandfather and not her father.”

Reid wrote a public apology on Facebook before the slaying, authorities said.

“Sorry guys. I'm truly not this bad of a person. I've been pushed to this point over of time. I'm disappointed in myself too,” he wrote. “I could have been so much more. It's so sad. I'm a terrible person overall.”

Reid allegedly fired one gunshot at Hodges inside the home they shared with his mother on Oct. 3, 2016, the paper reported citing an arrest citation.

The 24-year-old was armed with a rifle. The mother took the couple’s child, and Reid shoved her against the wall before following Hodges to the front door where she was shot, according to the citation.

Reid’s mother returned to the living room as Hodges was struggling from her wound. A neighbor managed to get into the home and restrain Reid before the police arrived, the paper reports.

Hodges was later pronounced dead at a local hospital.

Reid was booked into Allen County Detention Center, and his sentencing is scheduled for Nov. 29. He faces up to 50 years to life in prison.
