The pit bull mix named Scarface who attacked his owner and two other family members in their Tampa, Fla., home, has been euthanized.

The dog was put down on Friday because he posed a risk to the public and also because the pet suffered multiple stab wounds, Hillsborough County spokeswoman Kara Walker told the Daily News.

Brenda Guerrero, 54, was bitten in her backyard Friday after she tried to put a Christmas sweater on the dog, police said.

Her husband, Ismael Guerrero, 46, and their 22-year-old son, Antoine Harris, went to her aid but were both set upon by the dog.

Harris reportedly stabbed the dog in the head and neck with a knife. The family then managed to escape, as the dog entered the home.

Hillsborough County officials confirmed that the pit bull mix has been euthanized.

Brenda's granddaughter, Tina Harris, told The News on Sunday that her grandmother was recovering from surgery following the attack.

Ismael Guerrero was also hospitalized for his injuries.

Hillsborough County Animal Control officials used a stun gun to subdue the pit bull, capturing it with a catch pole at the scene.Send a Letter to the Editor
