The U.S. intelligence community reportedly called foul on President-elect Donald Trump’s tweet claim that a Russian hacking briefing was pushed back to Friday in an attempt to buy time.

“The ‘intelligence’ briefing on so-called ‘Russian hacking’ was delayed until Friday,” Trump tweeted, the latest move shrugging off the Kremlin’s alleged role in swaying the November election.

“Perhaps more time to build a case,” Trump added. “Very strange!”

CNN reports that Trump's meeting with Director of National Intelligence James Clapper and CIA Director John Brennan was never scheduled for Tuesday like the President-elect suggested.

While ringing in 2017 at his Mar-a-Lago bash, Trump pledged to divulge previously unreported information that only he knew about a series of hacks targeting the Democratic Party. That revelation would come out on either Tuesday or Wednesday, he said.

On Tuesday night, he didn’t keep his promise and blamed intelligence officials for the delay.

Sen. Mark Warner, who's also the Intel Committee vice chairman, slammed Trump’s latest remarks and said he wishes the President-elect would show more “respect for our intelligence professionals.”
