As killer cult leader Charles Manson clings to life in a California hospital, he has an unlikely well-wisher: The sister of Sharon Tate, the actress who was murdered by Manson’s followers.

The sister, Debra Tate, said Tuesday night she holds “no ill will” toward Manson and his flock — and might even shed a tear for him if his condition deteriorates.

“I would probably say a prayer for them and shed a tear and ask God to have mercy on their souls, but so far I haven't allowed myself to feel anything because it's unsubstantiated,” Debra Tate told The Associated Press.

“I'm not allowing myself to feel anything until I know that it's true.”

Tate’s sudden sympathy is at odds with the anger she has harbored against Manson and the followers who killed her sister and eight other people during a California reign of terror in 1969.

When Manson follower Leslie Van Houten was recommended for parole last year, Tate called her “not a person we want out.”

“These are serial killers,” Tate told The Los Angeles Times about Manson’s group.

“These are, as far as I know, the original domestic terrorists.”

Gov. Jerry Brown ultimately vetoed Van Houten’s chance of freedom.

Manson, 82, was rushed to a hospital Tuesday after falling ill with an undisclosed condition, according to local reports. There have not been updates on his condition since then.

TMZ reported he is suffering from gastrointestinal issues.

Manson is serving a life sentence in Corcoran State Prison for the conspiracy to carry out a killing spree that terrified southern California at the end of the '60s.

One night in August 1969, Manson’s followers broke into the Los Angeles home Sharon Tate shared with her husband Roman Polanski.

The sick sect murdered Tate — who was nearly nine months pregnant — and also slaughtered writer Wojeciech Frykowsk, stylist Jay Sebring, coffee heiress Abigail Folger and teenager Steven Parent.Send a Letter to the Editor
